Wie ich mich erinnere:
„Hier drängen sich mir viel zu viele Anekdoten ins Gedächtnis. ‚s_hell‘ ist Illes stärkster Live-Song. Wer die ganze Kraft dieses Tracks fühlen möchte, muss zum Konzert kommen. Auf dem Weg zum Release (Illes allererster Song!) gab es sicher sieben verschiedene Refrains für ‚s_hell‘. Ich weiß auch, um ehrlich zu sein, nicht, wer am Ende welche Kleinigkeiten für das Instrumental eingespielt hat. Es waren auf jeden Fall deutlich mehr Leute an den Aufnahmen beteiligt als nur die beiden. Der Mix dieses 100-Spuren-Monsters hat hi_ohmic dementsprechend in den Wahnsinn getrieben. Aber der Song lebt, atmet und wächst, klingt gleichzeitig fürchterlich distanziert, plastisch und anorganisch und trifft für mich – genau wie das Cover – nach wie vor genau die angestrebte isolierende und depressive Vision. Das Foto habe ich einen Tag, nachdem Ille einen künstlichen Backenzahn implantiert bekommen hat, geschossen; die Inspiration für Farben, Framing und Eeriness war das erste King-Crimson-Album-Cover. Irgendwo auf Illes Website findet man noch das erste Concept Drawing zur Muschel mit der Kette (eine Suche lohnt sich, glaube ich).
Der Release war lang geplant für einen Tag vor Silvester, aber nach mehreren Monaten Arbeit hat Ille die Präsentation ihres ersten Songs nicht mit Sekt und Feuerwerk, sondern mit einer Mandelentzündung verbracht. In some way, it matches the vibe. Aber Applaus und Jubel im Song-Outro sind 100 % echt und einer der tollen Zufälle, die manchmal einfach passieren, wenn man bei offenem Fenster Gesang aufnimmt.“
As I remember it:
“Too many anecdotes are crowding my memory here. 's_hell' is Ille's strongest live song. If you want to feel the full force of this track, you have to come to a show. On the road to release — Ille's very first song! — there were probably seven different choruses for 's_hell'. And honestly, I'm not entirely sure who ended up playing which small parts on the instrumental. There were definitely far more people involved in the recording than just the two of them. The mix of this 100-track monster drove hi_ohmic accordingly mad. But the song lives, breathes and grows; it simultaneously sounds frighteningly distant, plastic and inorganic, and for me — just like the cover — it still hits exactly the intended isolating, depressive vision. I took the photo one day after Ille had an artificial molar implanted; the inspiration for the colours, framing and eeriness was the first King Crimson album cover. Somewhere on Ille's website you can still find the first concept drawing of the shell with the chain — worth hunting down, I think.
The release had long been planned for the day before New Year's Eve, but after months of work, Ille spent the unveiling of her very first song not with champagne and fireworks, but with tonsillitis. In some way, it matches the vibe. But the applause and cheering in the song's outro are 100% real — one of those wonderful accidents that sometimes just happen when you record vocals with the window open.”
